Lasonic Ghetto Blasts back to the 80s
What’s that coming over the hill…is it a boombox? Well, yes, but not like any boombox you’ve ever seen before (or, if you’re under 30, probably not like any boombox you’ve seen…ever!). This is the Lasonic Ghetto Blaster in all its garish 80’s gloriousness.
Ghetto Blasters were all the rage in the 80s, with each manufacturer loading more and more features onto their boombox, trying to outdo each other in the battle of features over quality (much like the mobile phone arms race currrently in full swing). Things got a bit out of control when full-size record-decks were bolted onto these ‘portable’ monsters, in addition to the obligatory twin tape-deck, graphic equalizer and 6 foot bass bins!
Clearly things have changed slightly over the years, and sonic gizmos have got slightly smaller since then. However, Lasonic think we all need to worship at the alter of the 80s, and who are we to disagree? The Lasonic is a full-on retro Boombox, but comes fully loaded with MP3 player, USB ports, SD card slot, graphic equalizer, and even a DVD drive, TFT display and analog TV tuner!
This thing looks glorious. Completely impractical and hilarious to look at, but it proves one thing: gizmos may come and go, but Ghetto Blasters will always be seriously cool!
Expected to retail for $250, expect its release later in 2007.
