Creative Zen X-Fi now has specs and a price
At the beginning of the month we told you about the new Creative Zen X-Fi PMP, but there wasn’t a full spec for it and there wasn’t a price… well there is now. One of the big selling points, and one that really sticks it to Apple, is its Wi-Fi support which you will be able to stream and synch just about any media you can think of: MP3, JPEG, WMA, ACC and so on. The Zen X-Fi is compatible with most multimedia file types you can think of. Read on for more details and the price.
It will come in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB, so something for all. If those sizes are not enough you can expand the memory with the built in SDHC card slot. As yet, the prices have only been released for the Japanese market but they equate to roughly £84, £107, and £155 for each of the models. The 8GB has a slight downside in that it won’t include the Wi-Fi, so with only a small difference in costs it will be well worth it to shell out a little more cash to get the 16GB version.
So what’s the downside? The only real problem is that the screen is not up to an iPod Touch’s level, at 2.5in 320 x 240, it leaves a fair bit to be desired, but it is cheaper than an iPod touch and the ability to synch and stream from a PC using the Wi-Fi far out ways the poorer screen.
Hopefully UK prices and release dates will be coming soon; this is one device I am looking forward to getting my hands on.
Update: The UK prices have now been released, it is slightly more than the conversion from the Japanses market but still cheaper than an iPod Touch. 8GB for £110, 16GB for £140 and 32GB for £200.
