How to build a crap wireless audio streamer
Wireless audio streamers are becoming increasingly common (at least we hope they are, otherwise this blog’s buggered!), but there’s one thing they all have in common - price. Although they’re undoubtedly useful gadgets to have, particularly if you’ve got a decent sound system and all your tunes are on your PC, they’re not exactly cheap.
Step forward Popular Science, who’ve written an article that shows you how to build your own crap wireless audio streamer!
More details after the jump.

Why a crap wireless audio streamer? Well just look at the thing! They’ve taken a cheap old PC, used it to connect wirelessly to another PC (the one with all the tunes on), and then wrapped the poor old PC up in a “custom enclosure that matches the room’s decor”.
Whose decor looks like that?! Seriously, all they’ve done is wrapped some plywood around an old PC, tacked on a crappy LCD display from a calculator, and then claimed they’ve built a wireless audio streamer! And the cost? Well, assuming you can find a “salvaged” PC for $72, they’re estimating it’ll cost just $92. Or $392 if you can’t find a salvaged PC!!
Really, I’m disappointed! Save yourself the ignominous laughter from your friends and buy yourself a proper audio streamer, one that doesn’t come with plywood and parcel tape!
