JVC have launched a plethora of iPod-related products at CES 2010, from standard iPod speakers to HDTVs complete with iPod docks. Not just iPod, either – they’ll also fit the iPhone, if that’s your Apple gadget of choice.

Here, in no particular order, are just some of the best JVC iPod products on offer at CES 2010, complete with a video showing them off.

JVC Kaboom

A legend returns! The JVC Kaboom, first released in 1998, became one of the most popular and recognisable boomboxes of all time. Now JVC have updated it with this, the third generation JVC RV-NB50 Kaboom.

What’s different about it? iPod of course! It packs a pair of 40 Watt speakers through which you can blast out your iTunes library, as well as a USB port, CD player and FM radio.

Twin-iPod Hi-Fi System

The JVC NX-D2 Hi-Fi is designed for power iPod users – i.e. those who can’t get by with just one, but need two iPods! The NX-D2 features not one but two iPod docks, because apparently you can never have enough docks to slot your iPod in (WTF?!)

The NX-D2 is also a beefy Hi-Fi system in its own right with 230W output, three way speaker design, USB Host and even a CD. The remote can also operate one of the iPods, er, remotely!

JVC TeleDock HDTVs

Continuing the theme of “no such thing as too many docks”, JVC also added one to their range of new range of HDTVs called the JVC TeleDock. As you can probably guess, the TeleDock is an iPod dock on the front of the TV, which will not only charge your iPod, it’ll also let you view its pictures and videos via the TV itself.

You can even control the iPod from the TV’s remote.

Six Car Stereos with iPod connectivity

JVC also announced six new car stereos that will connect to your iPod or iPhone. You can also control what songs you’re listening to via the stereo head unit, so you don’t need to kill someone while fumbling with the iPod’s controls at 90mph!

The new range also comes with Bluetooth, so you can connect your mobile phone to them, and a USB port, in case you have a non-iPod MP3 player!

In fact, you can pretty much stream music from any device in one way or another to these stereos. If that doesn’t do it for you, there’s always a CD player you can fall back on!

Video of JVC’s new iPod gadgets

Finally, a video of all these gadgets, plus a few more, has been released by JVC to give you a bit more of a feel for them. They’re coming real soon, so if one takes your eye, you should be able to buy it before Easter 2010.

JVC seem to have found the perfect complement to your shiny new HDTV – an iPod dock! Simply buy one of their new JVC TeleDock range of HDTVs, and you too can dock your iPod into the front of your telly, where it’ll be fully charged and happily play music, videos and photos through your TeleDock’s screen.

Actually, although this seems like an odd idea at first, it makes a lot of sense for people who’s lives centre around the iPod or iPhone. You can control your iPod through the TV’s remote, which has a similar look and feel to it, and watching videos or photos on your HDTV is much better than staring at your iPod’s screen.

The Teledock TV’s themselves aren’t super-high end, so the iPod dock is the feature, not the quality of the picture. That said, they do offer full HD, 120Hz refresh rate, as well as digital noise reduction, dynamic backlight, three HDMI connections and 1080 24p/30p output.

Oddly, their speakers only have a 10W output, which is a bit weedy, particularly when their main use is to play music from your iPod!

The three JVC TeleDock TVs’ release date is set for Spring 2010, with the TV’s coming in a range of sizes from 32″ to 46″.

JVC had a range of in-car entertainment gizmos on show at CES 2010, including this, the JVC KW-AVX830 on show. This is a beast of an in-car gadget featuring a huge 7″ screen, proximity detector (the unit switches itself on when it sense your hand, and then off again, when you return to the somewhat important business of driving!), and a USB connector, through which you can connect your trusty iPod or iPhone.

You can do more than just connect iPhone, though – you can also access your iPhone’s Contacts, change from hands-free to private conversation with the push of a button, and switch a Bluetooth connection seamlessly between two separate mobile phones.

And if you want to watch video form your iPod or iPhone – well, why not?! Sure, you’re in a car, but it would be criminal to have a 7″ screen and not show videos on it!

JVC have been showing off a range of new Micro Audio Systems that integrate nicely with an iPod. I say nicely – the iPod simply slots into a slot at the top, and just sits there looking gormless against the giant black behemoth beneath it! The JVC system might be micro in Hi-Fi terms, but it looks anything but when it’s got an iPod sticking out of its head!

Anyway, onto the system itself. There are three that JVC were showing off – the JVC UX-GN6, UX-LP5 and UX-G200. Of these, the GN6 looks the most interesting, as it seems to be cat controlled. Allow me to explain…

In the spirit of ever-tedious eco-friendliness, JVC has endowed the GN6 with a standby mode, whereby the Micro system falls into a power saving sleep when it’s not been used for a while. No problem there. However, rather than instantly waking up whenever a button is pushed, JVC have incorporated a motion detection system into the GN6, so it wakes up whenever it detects movement directly in front of you.

So, how often do you think the GN6 will wake up each night when your curious and somewhat bored cat decides to spend the whole night running around the room?! Nice idea, but it does smack ever so slightly of badly-thought through gimmick!

The system itself looks pretty good, though. Aside from its physical good looks and its obvious integration with the iPod, it also connects to a variety of other devices through a USB port in the front. Its controls are operated by a ‘laser-touch’ system, which simply means you only have to breath on them for them to operate.

Again, the cat’s going to have a field day – it can wake up the hi-fi by walking in front of it, and then start playing tunes and turning the volume up with just the swish of its tail! What were you thinking of, JVC?!

CES 2009 has begun, and we’re starting our coverage with a roundup of the best HDTV news.

First up is JVC, who had 9 different HDTVs on display from two distinct ranges – its Full HD line and the TeleDock Line.

JVC Full HD line

The JVC Full HD line of TVs does exactly what it says on the tin – offers full HD at 1080/24/30p. Good quality images are claimed, good specs seem evident, but other than that, the <a href=-"http://www.jvc.com/press/index.jsp?item=670&pageID=1">JVC Full HD Line seems entirely unremarkable.

JVC TeleDock

Much more interesting is the JVC TeleDock line, a series of Full HD TVs that have an iPod dock attached to them at the bottom. You can plug your iPod directly into them and use the TV’s remote to view pictures and listen to tunes through the TV’s speakers (although this will presumably sound pants! Much better to listen to your tunes through a dedicated iPod dock or your Hi-Fi, rather than through your TV).

With a light diffuser at the front radiating cool blue light underneath the TV and the tight integration with the iPod, the JVC TeleDocks are worthy of your attention (if not your cash) – but there were some much bigger announcements at CES waiting in the wings.

Seems like this week is 3D TV week! Hot on the heels of the Philips 3D BluRay player comes news of stunning new 3D TV technology from Victor Company of Japan (aka JVC) and Japan’s NICT. The new display is a full HD TV that can display 3D images without the need for special glasses. Better still, the two organizations have developed a 72″ 3D display to demonstrate the technology, and believe they can scale it up to a massive 200 inch display.

Their technology uses three separate full-HD projectors that project the image onto the back of the screen. Because each projector offers full-HD resolution (1920 x 1080p), that’s an incredible 100 million pixels in total.

The benefits of this technology are that the 3D images can be seen from a variety of different angles, and not just from looking directly at the screen, which is a limitation inherent in many current 3D TV technologies. It also offers much higer resolution than other technologies – indeed, this is the only full-HD 3D TV technology in existence.

Unfortunately, it’s only at the prototype stage at the moment, and they’re not expecting it to go into commercialization until 2011, but at least that gives you time enough to save up your pennies (and for the world to regain some rich bankers again!), as with three separate full-HD projectors, this baby ain’t exactly gonig to be cheap!

JVC has just announced an addition it is Gumy line which what they are calling “Gumy Air”. Not sure if I could take a pair of ear bud headphones seriously if they are called “Gumy Air”, it brings visions of them sticking in my ear like chewing gum and providing crummy or gummy sound. But if we are to believe the press release, this is not the case.

The new JVC Gumy Air ear bud headphones provide a custom fit through the use of silicon rubber air cushion, so they should be extremely comfortable as they mould to your unique ear shape. The Gummy Air comes in seven different colours which match the third-generation iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle.

The ear buds use a large 11mm neodymium driver with high power and sensitivity. The 1.0 meter cord offers friction noise reduction and is equiped with an iPhone compatible plug.

The JVC HA-F240 Gumy Air ear bud headphones are now available for $14.95, which is not a bad price for custom feel ear buds.

JVC have launched a new range of HD TVs featuring what must be the world’s least requested add-on – an iPod dock! The gloriously named LT-32P679, LT-42P789, LT-47P789 and LT-52P789 LCD TVs (who said HD TVs were just commodities?!) all come with an iPod dock built into their base, which lets you plug your iPod into it.

Why would you want to do this? Well, not to watch video, that’s for sure, as the HDTVs only let you listen to the music on your iPods. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but a TV is not actually designed as an audio device, but focuses on instead on video. Why would you want to play your iPod’s tunes through your TV?

The HDTVs at least let you control your iPod via the remote, and the iPod’s menu is then displayed on the TV. But given the sound quality of most tellys, surely it’d be better either to listen to your iPod from your, er, iPod, or else invest in a decent hi-fi with an iPod dock? Call me cynical, but this smacks to me of gimmick!
